Both Russell Martin and Ivan Juric were sacked after facing Tottenham Hotspur's defeats. Are the Spurs indeed Southampton's Achilles heel?

Tell me, do you believe that scorelines can be scary in football? Well, I accept nothing less than a yes here. After all, which fan wouldn't be aware of the 2-0 lead jinx in the sport?

Yet that's not the only one on this list. Ask a Southampton fan and they will tell you about their 1-3 result series.

Notably, pick any alternate Saints game and one would find the club losing this way. Well, their recent Tottenham defeat was none different, just that this time it confirmed their relegation. And then came boss Juric's sacking orders, which you all would be aware of by now.

Funny how the speculation let Southampton off the hook again, huh? After all, unlike what was expected, it was Ivan Juric who ended up forced out of his role.

Sure, Juric has to shoulder the blame for this, but somehow, the timing of his sacking felt out of his hands. Sounds ridiculous, but maybe there’s a Tottenham hex haunting St. Mary’s this season.

Tottenham is Southampton's Achilles' heel and no one can disagree

This is because if you remember, ex-boss Russell Martin's exit orders followed a Tottenham thrashing too, just ending with a changed scoreline of 0-5.

And if that’s not haunting enough, Spurs aren’t done. Now, with eyes on Tyler Dibling, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, and a potential cheeky free swoop for ex-star Walker-Peters, the Spurs might just trigger a full-blown Saints exodus this summer.

Well, now, so many incidents can’t be a mere coincidence. In fact, for an emotionally fragile St. Mary's faithful fanbase, it is more than enough to get convinced of something being supernatural here.

Still, that's how it has been. Whenever Tottenham have gotten the chance, they’ve inflicted serious damage to Southampton's Premier League campaign. Now, still calling them not to be the Saints' Achilles heel, you decide.
