Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a summer swoop for Fiorentina striker Moise Kean, according to Tuttosport.

Tottenham are looking for attacking reinforcement ahead of next season, and their radar has landed on Kean, who is not a new customer to the Premier League, having played for Everton.

The 24-year-old striker has taken Serie A by storm this season, recording 15 goals and two assists in 23 appearances. He has 19 goals in 29 outings across all competitions.

Spurs reportedly sent scouts to watch him as Fiorentina lost to Inter Milan yesterday. Considering Spurs have an affinity for the Serie A market, the news is no surprise.

Tottenham signed Guglielmo Vicario, Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski, and Destiny Udogie from the Italian top flight. The North Londoners could return for Kean, who has a €52 million release clause, as they bid to bolster their forward line this summer.

Spurs’ marquee summer signing and centre-forward Dominic Solanke has spent a chunk of the season sidelined. Richarlison is expected to leave after an injury-riddled spell, and loan signing Mathys Tel might decide not to sign permanently, hence the need for attacking reinforcement.

However, Spurs cannot afford to be bamboozled by Kean’s recent form. Any move for the former Paris Saint-Germain star would be unwise, considering he has already underperformed in the Premier League and stylistically does not fit what Spurs need.

Everton shelled big money for his signature. He returned only four goals in 39 outings for the Toffees. A successful loan to PSG saw him net 16 goals in 36 appearances. He returned to Juventus, where he had another exciting blitz but was ultimately sold for failing to live up to expectations.

While Kean is a natural finisher, his hold-up play and ability to make his presence felt in the opposition box is questionable.

Spurs need a force of nature at centre-forward who can pin opposition defenders and bring his team into the game, someone the team can try to find with crosses when the first plan does not work.

Kean is a fantastic finisher, but Spurs cannot afford to fall for this trap. Tottenham need more than goals from any centre-forward signing. He has also flopped twice when under pressure to deliver, and the club must steer clear.

Besides, other more exciting profiles, like Samu Aghehowa of FC Porto, should be the target. The Spaniard is younger and a better fit for Tottenham.
