Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered the race for Ajax striker Brian Brobbey as the club looks to reinforce the squad for the second half of the season.
Major news from the Netherlands broke overnight that the Dutch centre-forward was already in London as Tottenham and West Ham United mull over a move.
Brobbey is a physical striker trained under the Dutch total football system. He has all the attributes of a top centre-forward, except for being able to stick the ball into the back of the net.
Since stepping into senior football, Brobbey has been tipped for great things, but his wastefulness in front of goal limits his game.
The Dutch international scored three across all competitions this season. How Tottenham have figured this is the man to bolster the ranks is beyond mind-boggling.
Proponents may point to his performances last term, where he recorded 22 goals and 12 assists in 42 appearances. However, Brobbey registers an alarming number of misses.
Tottenham must avoid such an uninspiring signing. They are winless in six Premier League games and desperately need reinforcements.
Even though the club needs new players, they can aim higher than Brobbey. Timo Werner is already on the books. There is no need to add to the club’s finishing woes.
