Tottenham star says yes to Atlético Madrid | OneFootball

A leading member of the defensive ranks at Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur has given the green light to a summer move to Atlético Madrid.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing Spanish transfer insider Matteo Moretto, who point towards Cristian Romero as the player in question.

It is at this point widespread knowledge that Atlético Madrid are on the hunt for defensive reinforcements with a view to next season.

Evidently of the opinion that the heart of his backline is lacking in sufficient depth, Diego Simeone is understood to have requested fresh blood this summer.

And one such profile to have made his way firmly onto the wishlist of the brass at the Metropolitano comes in the form of the aforementioned Cristian ‘Cuti’ Romero.

Not only that, but as per MD:

‘The Colchoneros have reportedly already received the approval of the player. That doesn’t necessarily mean the Argentine will be signed, but it is an essential step, as he is keen to don the ‘rojiblanca’ jersey.’

The one major roadblock for Atléti in their pursuit of a deal is the price-tag slapped on Romero by Tottenham.

The Lilywhites, it is claimed, are seeking a sum in the region of €80 million for their defensive standout, with their counterparts in Spain’s capital keen only to fork over €40-50 million.
