Mike Brown, a former Manchester United and Blackburn head scout and well-regarded transfer expert at Football Insider, believes that Real Madrid’s pursuit of Trent Alexander-Arnold might not conclude as swiftly as many expect.

The Liverpool full-back, reportedly a top target for the Spanish giants, appears to be taking his time to consider his options before making any definitive decision.

Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool has been the subject of speculation for several months.

While Real Madrid made an unsuccessful attempt to sign him last January, the club remains keen on securing his services as they seek to strengthen their defensive lineup.

With the summer transfer window approaching, anticipation is building, but Brown suggests patience is necessary.

Decision pending

According to Brown, the England international is unlikely to announce his intentions until the end of the current season. His decision will largely depend on Liverpool’s competitive performance in the coming months.

If the Reds manage to contend for the Premier League title and make a serious run in the Champions League, they could still persuade him to stay.

“He won’t decide the end of the season. It will all depend on how Liverpool do competitively between now and May.

“If they can win the Premier League and challenge for the Champions League, they could convince him. But I think he will make them wait,” he said as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Real Madrid, however, remains a tempting prospect for any player, given the club’s rich history and ongoing ambitions.

The Spanish side is eager to rejuvenate their squad, particularly in defence, where Alexander-Arnold’s attacking prowess and creative playmaking abilities could be a perfect fit.

Brown also emphasises that the dynamic nature of football means situations can change rapidly.

What appears likely today may be entirely different by the end of the season. Therefore, both Liverpool and Real Madrid will need to tread carefully and remain attentive to developments.

“Things in football change very quickly. I hope he takes his time, weighs everything up and then makes a decision,” he noted.
