Sitting in 15th place with 30 points, Hoffenheim require just one more win to guarantee survival if results are to go against them. They face a stern test against a resurgent Dortmund side this weekend however.
Die Kreichgauer suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of fellow-Badeners Freiburg last time out after Lucas Höler's second-half goal cancelled out an excellent added-time comeback in the first half, as Marius Bülter and Andrej Kramaric found the back of the net to level the scores at 2-2 heading into the break.
However, recent goalscoring form has been positive, with their four goals in the last two games matching their tally achieved in the prior five outings.
With four matches left to play, safety would be confirmed if Stuttgart win against Heidenheim this evening, and Hoffenheim overcome Dortmund on Saturday afternoon.
Team News
Tom Bischof is suspended and will miss this weekend's clash after accumulating too many yellow cards, while Diadie Samassekou and Grischa Prömel are injured.
Arthur Chaves, Kevin Akpoguma and Stanley Nsoki are likely to start as a back three once again. Ozan Kabak, Valentin Gendrey and Christopher Lenz are all absent.
Ihlas Bebou also continues to remain out until the end of the season.
The visitors have been impressive in front of goal recently, with Niko Kovac's men finding the back of the net 12 times across their last four Bundesliga outings, placing Die Schwarzgelben just two places from sixth-placed Mainz and three points from Freiburg in fifth.
Dortmund's recent form has been fantastic, with Niko Kovac seemingly turning the tide and applying a much more ‘common sense’ tactical outlook.
BVB are unbeaten in four, with the only points dropped coming from a 2-2 draw against Bayern München.
Team News
Dortmund have suffered a setback with the news of Pascal Groß being set to miss the remaining four matches of the season. Carney Chukwuemeka could start in midfield alongside Felix Nmecha.
An ankle injury to Maximilian Beier could see Julian Brandt play alongside Karim Adeyemi behind Serhou Guirassy.
