One of the few positive notes of AC Milan’s rather difficult past few weeks has been the performances of Alex Jimenez, and talks with Real Madrid are planned.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) recall, Jimenez fully entered the first team squad at the end of 2024 and has never left it since. The new head coach Sergio Conceiçao clearly likes him and is using him with an increased frequency.

He will continue to do so in the next few games too, given that Kyle Walker is currently recovering from a muscle issue and should miss the next couple of matches at least, while Alessandro Florenzi and Emerson Royal remain long-term absentees.

However, the shadow of Real Madrid looms over Jimenez, who could bring him back to the Spanish capital in the summer by activating the buy-back clause of €9m. They can even wait one year and buy him back in 2026 for €12m.

Milan intend to keep the 19-year-old and that is why a meeting between the two clubs is planned for March, in which CEO Giorgio Furlani will aim for a ‘remodelling’ of the clauses. He could even ask to remove them to ‘better protect Milan’, but something would have to be given in exchange.

Reports in Spain recently suggested that Real Madrid might not be inclined to spend more to bring in another right-back given that they are growing in confidence that they could land Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool.
