Outside of the Carabao Cup, it's been since August when Aston Villa last lost at Villa Park. The unbeaten streak across the Premier League and Champions League will be put to the test on Tuesday when PSG comes to Birmingham.

In order for AVFC to keep their CL hopes alive, a complete, all-around great performance will be needed. As fans saw in the first leg, the Ligue 1 side has the ability to punish any lapses and does an excellent job of making life uncomfortable for their opposition.

Coming to Villa Park, however, is an entirely different undertaking, as evidenced by the current record of Unai Emery's side. Behind the full force of the vocal claret and blue supporters, overcoming the current hole that the club finds itself in is possible.

Emery elected to play for a result in the first leg. Despite a late third goal from PSG in stoppage time, the Morgan Rogers goal made the aggregate score achievable. More importantly, it showed that Luis Enrique's side can concede chances once getting past the initial press.

It's doubtful that the French side will park the bus. After all, with their midfield and attacking options, they'll know that they can force the issue. Attempting to make the scoreline out of hand for the hosts on Tuesday will be the primary goal, at least in the early goings of the match.

Confidence for Aston Villa in familiar grounds

Regardless of how the side from France approaches it, they will be in a hostile, difficult environment. Speaking before the fixture, the Villa boss made clear what he expected from players and supporters alike. In an all-or-nothing situation, he believes in this group's ability to get the job done against a good PSG side. The Spaniard elaborated, as shared on the club website. He spoke on the advantages of playing at home on Tuesday:

"Use now Villa Park like our home and like our fortress...We want to write here the history with Aston Villa. Last year, in Conference League, and this year in Champions League, and hopefully for a long time in Europe."

Naturally, Villa would rather be in the position of being able to approach the game from an even playing field. Unfortunately for Aston Villa, the first leg won't allow that to be the case. Behind, however, a massive, distinct advantage at Villa Park, and a corps that will look for revenge, Emery's words of pushing for and achieving a result could easily end up proving prophetic.
