UNDER 16: PLAY-OFF CHANCES | OneFootball

AC Milan Under-16s are having a good season, and they are growing well under Simone Baldo. Currently, the team are in sixth in Group B on 38 points, level with Udinese. This is thanks to eight consecutive wins in the second half of the season, which strengthened the group's chemistry and cohesion, before setbacks against Hellas Verona and Atalanta. The young Rossoneri are hunting down a play-off spot.

The side, made up of 2009-born talents, have a solid defensive record (30 goals conceded, the fourth best defence in the league) and a versatile attack. Players like Pietro Avogadro and Leonardo Colombo have been putting in top performances, showing their ability to find the back of the net: with twelve goals for Avogadro and five for Colombo, they have been key to the team's success. The chemistry between the players is clear to see and it is one of the team's strengths.

The technical staff's work has been key in helping the boys grow. Their approach didn't only lead to improved results, but the team became more complete and better prepared to compete both in Italy, and internationally. Looking towards the future, the main goal is to continue growing the players individually and together. Above all, the chance to get into the play-offs is an added motivation. Playing top-level teams like Monza, Brescia and Udinese in their last games gives them a chance to prove themselves against top opposition, testing their abilities and giving them experience.

These are Baldo's reflections: "I am pretty satisfied with how we have done, they have grown well as a team and individually, in the second half of the season we have done well, despite initial issues. We would like to be higher in the table but we are in line with what has been asked of us: a commanding play style, decisiveness and with strong build up. The goals is to try and get a play-off spot, it won't be easy with tough games, but for these boys, it is a chance to improve, and they need to get used to playing in these conditions, in games with more tension: these are occasions that teach you how to manage emotions, when there is a key match that can test how far they have come".
