Van Nistelrooy's got nothing to lose so should try this formation

Seemingly timid and inexperienced Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has now got nothing to lose at King Power Stadium. If he's not sacked during the current campaign, he'll likely be relieved of duty by the time summer rolls around. Many experts and fans of the English game are also expecting the Foxes to be relegated this season. It doesn't take a clairvoyant to predict that outcome even at this slightly premature stage of proceedings.

Either that undesirable scenario will transpire, or the Dutchman will pull off the latest LCFC Great Escape. Of course, the King Power club managed to evade Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules without punishment so far. Although that precarious position has damaged the squad quality and ultimately hurt the east Midlands outfit. My conclusion is that avoiding relegation is now very unlikely.

It would, however, be nice to see our beloved team win a few matches before 2024/25 ends in total disappointment. And you never know what putting a few improved performances together could achieve. Incidentally, Van Nistelrooy has been strongly criticised by supporters and questioned by writers for not changing his starting lineup. The former Manchester United striker also sticks to the same setup like glue. I think he should try this formation for the next few fixtures:

With nothing to lose, Ruud van Nistelrooy could try this 3-4-3 system at Leicester City - it may even help the porous defence

Three at the back? Why not?! City couldn't really be any worse in defence so giving them an extra, strengthening centre back can't hurt.

We could employ a hybrid back line which has two or three men patrolling whilst in possession. Though this flexible style can switch to a protective five at the back when off the ball.

James Justin as the left wing back when fit; Ricardo Pereira is only a while away now for the opposing flank. Boubakary Soumare and Wilf Ndidi would reprise their roles.
