Paulo Dybala has returned to Italy after undergoing surgery and the Roma star admits he might have to miss the start of next season too.
The Argentina international pulled up with a lesion to the tendon in his thigh during the Serie A match against Cagliari.
It was immediately apparent that the injury was serious and he would require an operation to fully heal.
Following the surgery in London, Dybala returned to Rome and was greeted at the airport by reporters who asked if he would be back on the field before September.
“I really don’t know,” he replied.
“I can walk without crutches, but the doctors told me to keep using them. I feel fine, thank you to everyone.”
It was reported he would be in the stands for the squad’s trip to Lecce on Saturday in Serie A.
“I have to talk to the doctors, but I don’t think so. I will be there for the other matches, though.”
La Joya was also asked about last night’s World Cup qualifier, where his Argentina thrashed Brazil 4-1.
“I saw, but we’re used to it with Brazil lately,” he grinned.
