What looked like a comfortable night for Real Madrid against Celta turned into a tense and frustrating match for the home side.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team managed to scrape a narrow win, but the game nearly slipped from their hands in the final moments, with the Galician side pushing hard for an equaliser.
One moment that stood out during the match was the reaction of Vinicius Jr. Although it went unnoticed at first, TV cameras later captured the Brazilian’s anger as he left the pitch at half-time.
The outburst was triggered by a decision from Jude Bellingham to play a back pass instead of pushing forward in the final seconds of the first half.
That cautious choice allowed the referee to blow the whistle, cutting short any chance of a last attack. Vinicius was visibly upset, turning to Bellingham and shouting, “Jude! Jude, brother, go ahead,” as he headed to the dressing room.
Vinicius did not have the best game at the Santiago Bernabeu, and his frustration was clear throughout the match. But one thing was obvious that he wanted Real Madrid to be more aggressive.
The Brazilian expects the team to always push forward, especially in moments when a goal could change the game. He wasn’t happy with what he saw as a lack of hunger to score.
Despite the tension, Real Madrid secured the three points and stayed alive in the La Liga title race. But the win came with a warning: playing it safe too often could cost them.
All eyes now turn to the Clasico this weekend at Montjuic, where they face Barcelona in what could be the decisive game of the season.
