Tom Cleverley was lifted up by his Watford players after their win over bitter rivals Luton Town.

Watford’s players were seen lifting Tom Cleverley as they celebrated their 2-0 win over Luton Town at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets went into the clash looking to build on their victory at Middlesbrough last week, and they knew they would move to within three points of the play-off places if they could beat their bitter rivals.

And, that’s exactly what happened, as a Tom Dele-Bashiru penalty and an Edu Kayembe effort sealed an impressive win for Watford, even if they were fortunate to get the spot-kick that resulted in the opening goal.

Despite that, Watford were full value for the win, as they took the game to Luton from the off, and the result ensured the Hatters remain in deep trouble as they sit bottom of the table, with a second successive relegation looking like a real possibility for Matt Bloomfield’s side.

Naturally, there were jubilant scenes at full-time, as Cleverley and the players soaked up the acclaim from the fans, who were delighted to get the bragging rights after a defeat at Kenilworth Road earlier in the season.

During the celebrations, footage was shared on social media from the Rookery End that showed several players lifting Cleverley up, as they were determined for the manager to get the credit he deserved.

We know Watford’s history with managers, and it was thought earlier this year that Cleverley was under pressure for his job.

However, it should be said that he has done superbly with the Hornets, all whilst working under a limited budget compared to other clubs around the, in the table.

To have Watford in the mix for promotion is a real achievement, and he is loved and appreciated by the fans.

This clip also shows he has the respect of the players, and it was a nice touch for them to make sure Cleverley was in the limelight after such an important win.
