Lautaro Martinez and Federico Dimarco have both congratulated AC Milan for coming from behind in the Supercoppa Italiana final last night, which was a five-goal thriller.
With 10 seconds of added time left in the first half, Inter took the lead and it was Lautaro who scored it, but Milan only had themselves to blame as they completed switched off from a throw-in.
Several players were jogging back when the ball was sent down the left, with Taremi finding the Argentine on the far side of the box and he finished convincingly after chopping back inside.
Mehdi Taremi would make it 2-0 after the break but Milan roared back, scoring through Theo Hernandez, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham – a last-gasp winner – to lift the Supercoppa.
Lautaro spoke to SportMediaset at the end of the game to dissect what was a difficult night for him as the captain and for his team-mates, with MilanNews relayed his comments.
What do you take from this evening?
“The positive things in the first half, we did a little bit. In the second half we came out in the right way, after the 2-0 Inter stopped playing and didn’t have the same intensity as at that moment. In these games you pay for these things.”
Was it hunger that made the difference?
“I don’t know. There’s always hunger in a final. We missed some goal situations at 2-2, we had several opportunities to score. Incidents change the game, we weren’t good at managing those moments and we lost the game, I don’t know if deservedly but Milan didn’t stop believing and credit to them.”

How do you explain what happened after 2-0?
“It’s hard to explain, the first thing that comes to mind is the tension. We knew that Milan’s best weapon is the counter-attack, they are very quick at counter-attacking. We weren’t precise in marking and even up front we didn’t take advantage of the opportunities.”
Dimarco – a boyhood Inter fan – was the player chosen to do the press conference alongside his coach Simone Inzaghi, and MilanNews published his comments too.
What happened?
“In the derby the details make the difference, but a team like ours can’t let themselves be caught up in this way from 2-0, we must congratulate Milan because they played a great game. We did it up to a certain point too, but we will analyse the mistakes.”

How much does it hurt?
“All defeats can make you improve, obviously losing a derby final is not easy. But we will have to face the next matches with our heads held high in the best possible way.”
Did you get complacent?
“I don’t think so, the team gave it their all. We faced a strong opponent: the details make the difference, it’s the second time they’ve scored against us at the end. It can’t happen, if you give up for a moment, strong teams score goals. But we have to get back up.”
The Scudetto and Champions League remain objectives…
“We have won the last three Super Cups, it doesn’t always happen, but we are Inter and we have other objectives. Let’s move forward.”
