Which game will Leandro Trossard miss through suspension? | OneFootball

Leandro Trossard was dismissed against Manchester City on Sunday for a second yellow card, meaning he’ll now serve a one-game suspension.

Leandro Trossard received a red card from Michael Oliver for a second yellow in the first half against Manchester City on Sunday, with Arsenal reduced to 10 men for over 45 minutes.

Yet the punishment doesn’t end there, with Trossard also suspended for Arsenal’s next match. Arsenal fans will be familiar with that from Declan Rice’s recent red against Brighton and subsequent suspension against Tottenham Hotspur.

But with Arsenal swapping competitions to play in the League Cup on Wednesday, the question is whether Trossard will miss that game or the following fixture against Leicester City in the Premier League.

Whilst suspensions for accumulations of yellow cards don’t carry over between competitions, straight red cards or indirect red cards (for two yellows) do.

As a result, Trossard will be suspended against Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday, but he’ll be back available again when the Gunners face Leicester on Saturday.

That will likely come as a bit of a relief, as Mikel Arteta would probably have preferred to rotate for the Bolton game anyway.

Perhaps Gabriel Jesus will get a shot in the starting lineup in Trossard’s absence, with the striker playing just 76 minutes of Arsenal’s season so far.
