Elite Development Squad Lead Coach Ben Wilkinson gave plaudits to his defenders after what was a dramatic 1-1 draw at Fulham in City's penultimate Premier League 2 clash before the knockout stage.

Callum Osmand put the hosts ahead with a 90th-minute headed effort that was the London outfit’s first shot on target.

But late into added time Divin Mubama turned in a loose ball after substitute Ashton Muir rattled the crossbar from range.

It meant the points were shared and that City remain top of the table with one game of the regular season left to play ahead of the knockout stages.

And after the draw Wilkinson offered his thoughts on what another testing assignment for his youngsters.

“In terms of what we got from Fulham, they’re a very good team and their quality can hurt you,” began Wilkinson.

“I thought again defensively we were really good. The shape of the team, the compactness and the work rate I thought was really impressive and we restricted to them to next to nothing.

“Obviously. we are disappointed to concede and concede late with one of if not their first shots of the game.

“But obviously I’m pleased we came back and got something out of the game so late on.

“It’s been a tough couple of weeks for the team and we always talk about these games being decided on such fine margins.

“But tonight to show spirit and resilience to come back and equalise was really pleasing and obviously in terms of trying to come top of this league.

“It’s in our hands next week.”
