Frank Leboeuf was very critical when Chelsea were bad, but he’s now being very complimentary now his old team look good.

While Craig Burley was busy praising Nicolas Jackson, Leboeuf used his slot on ESPN to focus on Moises Caicedo. The Ecuador star had a tricky start to his time at Chelsea, but has been getting better and better, and is now chaining together consistent excellent performances in the Premier League.

He was great against Leicester yesterday, and really seems to have found his feet in Enzo Maresca’s midfield.

You can see the pundit speaking in the clip embedded here, with these quotes coming after 7 minutes:

Caicedo has gone to new level claims Leboeuf

“We have to talk about Caicedo. He is the masterpiece right now. For 90 minutes today, and the week before, and the week before. The guy, since the beginning of the season isn’t the same guy,” the former defender commented.

“It’s the guy that was worth £100m. And that makes the difference. We spoke about Rodri, we spoke about Martin Odegaard. If you have somebody like Caicedo, like you had in N’Golo Kante before. It makes a difference, the guy is a game changer. He’s always there, you always get the control of the ball, when he has the ball he never loses it, he was amazing and because of those players, because of the improvement of confidence but also in everything – fitness, tactics, technique, all those players… it makes a different team!”

We couldn’t agree more. The best thing you can say about Caicedo is actually that sometimes you don’t even notice him, in quite a Kante-like way. Against Leicester he was so efficient that you barely noticed. He’s sniffing out danger before it arrives, and is immaculate in possession.
