An insight into the formation plans of incoming Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has on Friday been provided.
The info comes courtesy of Marca, and points towards the Spaniard preparing to utilise a similar system to that made use of during his time with Bayer Leverkusen.
Across his stint at the BayArena, Alonso, for the most part, set up in some variation of a 3-4-2-1.
And upon his return to his home country with Real Madrid, just a minor tweak will be made to this setup.
As per Marca, the former midfielder has already made it known to those behind the scenes at the Santiago Bernabéu that he intends to line up in a 4-3-3 system next season.
This system will feature two ultra-attacking wing-backs, roles filled to brilliant effect by Jeremie Frimpong and Álex Grimaldo in Alonso’s Leverksen XI over the last two seasons.
Florentino Pérez and co. have in turn already kicked into gear a search for fresh blood on the flanks ahead of the summer.
