Chelsea’s Conference League run so far has been a total cruise, which is perhaps why Enzo Maresca is trying to give his players a little wake-up call ahead of their game in Warsaw later tonight.

The Blues have a squad and a budget which dwarfs that of their opponent, but in this case it might not be what they’re up against on the pitch which makes things difficult.

The Blues are facing Legia, who have some of the most fearsome “ultras” in world football. They’ve been in trouble with UEFA multiple times, and Chelsea fans in the Polish capital have been warned to not wear their teams’ colours to try and avoid trouble.

This is the first time that Chelsea have faced a Polish team in a competitive game, and the home team are going to do all they can to give their side the edge.

There’s only so much Maresca can do, but in his press conference yesterday he revealed some pretty interesting tactics he would be using to try and prepare his group for the intense atmosphere at the Stadion Wojska Polskiego.

Asked if he had sent his players videos of the stadium and the atmosphere to prepare them, Maresca confirmed that he had:

“Yes, yes. We try always to give them the big picture, not only what they can do on the ball, what they can do off the ball, and sometimes you also need to show them where you go because we have players from different parts of the world, so probably some of them they don’t know exactly. We showed them also some of the environment in this stadium,” the coach explained.
