A highly rated young Leicester City starlet is set to be handed further minutes in the team. This development occurred due to the adroit nature of the precocious talent he possesses. In addition to that factor, a further window of opportunity has opened because of an injury to another up-and-coming Fox.
The Foxes are looking to sign forwards in January. However, there may be adequate replacements on their own doorstep. Or, more specifically, options whom the east Midlanders recently developed at their academy in the LCFC Seagrave training complex.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed that he has 'faith' in Alves. And that he trusts the 19-year-old to 'make a difference' in the Premier League. So, how many minutes could Will Alves potentially be handed in place of the injured Kasey McAteer? And, most importantly, should LCFC supporters be excited about the youthful attacker?
Things are on the up for Leicester's Alves. We could now see more of the forward-thinking player, who prefers to play on the wing rather than occupying a central role. Van Nistelrooy rates the former, so that's the first tick. McAteer's fitness, though unfortunate, is the second element in Alves' prominence.
But Alves won't only rival the Republic of Ireland man. Stephy Mavididi must also apparently watch his back with the youngster around. While decent results came to an abrupt end under RvN, handing stars of the future a chance is another positive aspect of the Dutchman's watch.
Although, van Nistelrooy did actually give an encouraging update on McAteer. The 23-year-old won't be available for Saturday's clash with Aston Villa. But the latter could feature versus Queens Park Rangers the following weekend. What van Nistelrooy said of Alves is quoted below:
À propos de Publisher"Asked what the next step is for Alves, van Nistelrooy said: 'First, maintaining his training levels. He’s been doing really well in training. That’s why he’s there. He’s pushing for a place in the squad. What he has is speed, good feet, he can create something, powerful. It’s what we need on the wings, players who can take on one-v-ones, get balls into the opponent’s box and get past people to create chances for us. Will is capable of that. Of course, he’s very young and needs to keep working like he’s doing now.'"RvN
