According to Sky Sports Switzerland, the midfielder is set to depart the Foxes at the end of the campaign.

The midfielder has been with the Premier League club since arriving from Lille in 2021, but is out of contract in the summer of 2026.

Soumaré has featured 27 times in the league so far this season, including 23 starts, with the team’s relegation to the Championship already confirmed.

It has been reported that Leicester are willing to listen to offers for Soumaré this summer following their relegation from the top flight.

It’s believed that clubs in France such as AS Monaco are interested in his services, with teams in England also paying attention to the situation surrounding his future.

It has been claimed that the player is also considering a move to Qatar, with clubs from the region also eyeing a deal.

Leicester are hoping to earn a fee worth around the €10 (£8.5) million mark, although relegation to the Championship might reduce that asking price further.

Soumaré spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan with Sevilla while the Foxes earned promotion from the Championship under Enzo Maresca.

The midfielder made 28 appearances in La Liga, helping the Spanish club earn a 14th place finish in the table.

Soumaré’s importance to Leicester

Soumaré signed for Leicester from Lille in a deal worth £17 million, according to Sky Sports.

Since his arrival, he’s made 72 league appearances across three campaigns, with the Foxes coming eighth in his first campaign with the club.

The Leicestershire outfit suffered relegation in his two other seasons in the team, and has yet to contribute a goal in the league.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side will end the campaign with games against Southampton, Nottingham Forest, Ipswich Town and Bournemouth.

Soumaré sale makes sense for all parties

Soumaré avoided playing in the Championship two years ago by moving to Sevilla on loan, and will likely want to stay away from the second tier again this year as well.

Given he has just a year left on his deal, a loan wouldn’t be a feasible option unless there’s an obligation to buy attached as otherwise he’d end that stint as a free agent.

With Leicester’s financial issues, cashing in on him makes the most sense, especially as he is likely a high earner in the squad too.
