FC Barcelona have had many memorable results both in La Liga and the Champions League so far this season. Hansi Flick has transformed the team and made them a winning machine.

So far this season, Flick’s Barcelona have lost just two games in La Liga and one in the Champions League. In contrast, they have won 14 games in both competitions. Fascinatingly, not a single game has ended in a draw so far.

Of all these games, if you were to ask a Barcelona fan their favorite game of the season so far, they would be torn between the 4-1 win over Bayern Munich and the 4-0 win over Real Madrid. The latter was arguably in more difficult circumstances, considering it came away from home.

One of the star performers in both games was 21-year-old midfield star Marc Casado. Playing in his first game against Real Madrid, the Spaniard showed no nerves. In an interview on El Partidazo de la Cadena Cope as quoted by SPORT, he has spoken about the emotions.

Casado labeled the win over Los Blancos at Santiago Bernabeu as the ‘happiest day of his life’. Here is what the 21-year-old had to say:

“It was the happiest day of my life on a football field, for sure. I felt comfortable on the field and wanted to win the game. When I arrived in Barcelona, I hugged my parents, and they told me they had been crying the whole time.”

The midfielder went on to clarify that he had nothing against Real Madrid as a club and that it was the “Cule” in him that was talking. He said:

“I am not anti-Real Madrid; I am a culé.”

Casado also preferred to err on the side of caution, talking about the rivalry with Real Madrid, claiming that it was only November and it was too early to talk about trophies. He said:

“It’s November, there is a lot to fight for, and the important thing is to do things well. Hopefully, we win the league. We don’t have to focus on Real Madrid; we need to focus on ourselves and keep winning games.”

Marc Casado’s excellent form has earned him a call-up to the Spain senior squad for the current international break. His words show that the 21-year-old is not just an exquisite football talent but also has a mature head on his shoulders.

If the start is a sign of things to come, this was the first of many El Clasicos that Casado will be a part of during his football career. Let’s wait and see how he continues to perform going forward, as Barcelona returns from the international break and looks to get back to winning ways.
