One young Manchester City player who has impressed out on loan this season is Callum Doyle. The young defender has spent this season on loan at Norwich City in the Championship. Doyle had a good season, which showed that he is ready to make an impact at the highest level. It did appear that at some point, Manchester City had to allow Doyle to impress at the club. But a new report indicates that the opportunity for Doyle to play at City won’t come. A new report indicates that the young defender is eager to find a permanent move this summer.

Callum Doyle is eager to find a permanent move this summer.

Jack Gaughan has reported for the Daily Mail that Callum Doyle is eager to find a new home this summer. Furthermore, Gaughan reports that after loan spells at Norwich City, Coventry City, Leicester, and Sunderland, Doyle feels that the time is right to find a permanent club. Lastly, Doyle reports that clubs from the Premier League, Championship and abroad could move for the young defender.

A permanent move away from Manchester City may be best for Callum Doyle.

Callum Doyle has grown as a player during his loan spells away from Manchester City. He’s matured and become a competent defender in the Championship. He has the attributes and temperament to blossom into a fine player. But that opportunity may not come at Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s squad is filled with quality young defenders and there doesn’t seem to be room for Doyle in that particular equation.

Manchester City signed Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Juma Bah during the January transfer window. All three young centre-backs could potentially play a role in Pep Guardiola’s squad for next season. If Callum Doyle was to return to Manchester City for next season he’d face an uphill battle to find a spot in the City squad. Doyle can play as a left-back but if City sign a left-back next summer Doyle won’t figure into Manchester City’s plans in the position. It is hard to see how Doyle would fit into Pep Guardiola’s squad based on the options Manchester City already have in defence.

Perhaps a permanent move away from the Etihad is best for Callum Doyle. He can find a new home and establish himself as a player. Unfortunately that chance may not come at City and it’s understandable that Doyle is seeking a transfer this summer as per Jack Gaughan’s new report.
