Yacine Adli has claimed that he is not thinking too much about his future beyond the end of the season, but did acknowledge that he is ‘tied to Milan’.

Adli joined Fiorentina in the most recent summer transfer window on a season-long loan deal, with a €2m loan fee and a €10m option to buy. Before suffering an injury, the Frenchman had taken a central role in the midfield, with a string of impressive performances in Serie A and in the Conference League.

Milan are waiting for signals on Adli’s future just as they are with all the loanees that have buy-out options. However, it could end up being tied to the future of Riccardo Sottil, who joined the Rossoneri in the winter on a loan deal with a €10m option, meaning a swap cannot be ruled out.

Adli spoke during an interview with Radio Sportiva and he was asked about a number of topics from his recent injury to what the future might hold beyond the summer. MilanNews relayed his comments.

How are you after your injury?

“I’m fine at the moment, I spent a month out with a bad ankle injury and I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things, understanding what I can do. In any case, I’m feeling better and I’m trying to give my all to get back to my best level as soon as possible.”

Fiorentina’s midfield has changed a lot in recent weeks, and not just because of Fagioli’s arrival…

“We’ve also changed the playing system, it’s good for Fiorentina to see that everyone is at a high level, I personally will try to get back in the best way possible to help my team-mates.

“At the moment I don’t know if I’ll be in front of the defence or as a mezzala, but I’ll be ready to play in any position. At the moment Fiorentina’s midfield is working well.”

How was the international break?

“The truth is that we have a super focused group, that works hard and tries to put everyone on the same physical and athletic level.

“When you win the week then passes more easily, but as I said we remained focused even during the break because there is still a lot to do with many important commitments that are coming up.”

In the league you have dropped a bit in the table, is the Champions League still a possible objective?

“The league is still very open, we are all close and everything is possible. We will try to stay focused to give our best in every match. We still have head-to-head clashes and we will do our best.

“Now it is difficult to give yourself a clear objective. The league is very open and anything can happen. We have to finish well.”

What does your future hold?

“My goal is to finish the season in the best way possible and take Fiorentina as high as possible, then we’ll see what happens at the end of the season.

“Of course, Milan are a big club, I spent two extraordinary years where I became very attached to the club, but Fiorentina are also giving me a lot.

“So we’ll see what happens at the end of the season. Now I’m just thinking about winning games and bringing something important here to Florence.”

As an outside spectator, who do you see as the favorite for the Scudetto?

“In Italy, Inter is currently the strongest team, with so many commitments we have to see how they will be able to manage them. Napoli plays only one game a week and perhaps has the most favourable schedule.

“Atalanta will push until the end and could be the surprise, but I think that if Inter don’t make mistakes they will win the Scudetto.”
