The NUFC legend including one player who was key to the outcome of the Newcastle 4 Nottingham Forest 3 match.

As Newcastle United put in a performance of two halves but definitely deserved to win overall.

Alisson (Liverpool) “A calming influence as usual as he kept a clean sheet. He commanded his box well and made a key save to deny Omar Marmoush and stop Manchester City getting back into the match.”

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (West Ham) “Didn’t give Leandro Trossard a sniff, and he was also excellent going forward, setting up the only goal with a brilliant run and cross.”

Djed Spence (Spurs) “Stood out again and scored his first Premier League goal. He deserved that after helping Spurs to win their last three league matches in a row.”

Ollie Scarles (West Ham) “In his first league start, the teenager played his part in a disciplined team performance, helping West Ham to keep their first clean sheet under Graham Potter.”

Brennan Johnson (Spurs) “Got Spurs off to a great start with the first two goals, getting on the end of Son Heung-min’s low crosses.”

Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool) “Pivotal in Liverpool controlling the middle of the pitch, and provided two match-winning contributions, with a goal and an assist.”

Marco Asensio (Aston Villa) “He’s already made a big impact since arriving last month, with his quality in the final third. He grabbed both of Villa’s second-half goals to turn defeat into victory.”

Georginio Rutter (Brighton) “Too hot to handle for Southampton, causing them endless problems and scoring the second goal in a comfortable away win for Brighton.”

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) “Unstoppable, scoring and assisting in the same match yet again. He also tracked back to help Trent Alexander-Arnold deal with Jeremy Doku.”

Alexander Isak (Newcastle) “Another two goals. He’s now got 50 in the league, in only 76 games. His latest strikes proved to be vital for Newcastle in the end, given Nottingham Forest fought back to make it 4-3.”

Jarrod Bowen (West Ham) “A real captain’s performance, scoring the decisive goal to give Potter a statement win and really hurt Arsenal’s title chances.”

Manager: Arne Slot (Liverpool) “Completed a league double over Pep Guardiola, something Jurgen Klopp couldn’t do. His decision to start with Curtis Jones and Szoboszlai in the most advanced positions paid off.”
