Milan are ramping up their efforts to acquire Maxim De Cuyper, whom they have been keeping tabs on as a potential heir to the embattled Theo Hernandez. Their star might depart due to his short-term contract and a lackadaisical season.
According to TuttoSport (via Mediaset), the Rossoneri have already met with the agent of the Belgian international. He’s highly likely to be on the move in the summer. His price tag is about €25M.
Milan will battle it out with West Ham, Juventus, and especially Arsenal for De Cuyper. The Gunners are in the hunt for a new left-back as Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko have been unconvincing. They have often leaned on Miles Lewis-Skelly and occasionally deployed Riccardo Calafiori in such a role.
Club Brugge will do what they can to stoke a bidding war between powerhouses and drive up his valuation. The London outfit could bring in his representative in short order as well. Instead, the Bianconeri would be interested only if Andrea Cambiaso left. It’s far from certain at this stage even though Manchester City pursued him in January.
The 24-year-old has scored once and dished 6 assists in 38 matches across all competitions this campaign.
They are rarely subtle or swift on the transfer market in the sense that their moves usually can be seen coming from miles away, but it’s very early. He’d be a strong signing as he has balled out in the Champions League. He’s not so pricey to make the deal possible only after cashing in on Hernandez, whose departure is shaping up to be a saga that won’t find a quick and easy solution.
