Arsenal want Monaco Chief Executive Officer Thiago Scuro to succeed Edu as sporting director, according to Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The 43-year-old replaced Paul Mitchell at the Ligue 1 club in 2023, and his work has impressed the Gunners.
The Brazilian oversaw a squad overhaul which saw Monaco finish second behind Paris Saint-Germain last term after they finished sixth in 2022-23.
Arsenal know him following the negotiations for the sale of Folarin Balogun.
Scuro moved to Europe last year from Red Bull Bragantino after helping them rise from the lower Brazilian leagues.
He has hit the ground running in Europe after some impressive recruitment during the last two summer transfer windows, and Arsenal have taken note.
The Gunners want someone who can help take them to the next level in England and Europe, and the South American fits the bill.
He has an eye for talent, and his network of scouts back home and in Europe would be useful to Arsenal.
Former assistant sporting director Jason Ayto is currently in interim charge of the duties Edu left behind.
While they will continue monitoring Scuro, Real Sociedad director of football Roberto Olabe could also emerge as an option.
The Spaniard is set to leave his post at the end of this season, with the news set to place some of the leading clubs in Europe on high alert.
