Matheus Cunha has quickly established himself as a key player for Wolverhampton Wanderers, showcasing his versatility by excelling in various attacking roles. Whether playing as an attacking midfielder, supporting striker, or center-forward, the Brazilian has adapted with ease.

His strong performances have caught the attention of top clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain, according to Fichajes. Despite his importance to Wolves, the club may be willing to sell him for a fee upwards of €70 million.

In the meantime, Sky Sports News reports that Nottingham Forest are preparing a club-record bid of around £60 million, which could potentially tempt Wolves to part ways with Cunha.

Still, it seems the attacker is keen to remain at Wolves for the long term.

On Saturday, journalist Ben Jacobs reported that Cunha will sign his new Wolves contract this evening keeping him at the club until 2029.

Moreover, this contract extension is a blow for Aston Villa as The Guardian reported that Aston Villa was weighing up a late move for Wolves’ 25-year-old striker before the transfer deadline on Monday.

Recently, Mick Brown, a former chief scout at Man United and Blackburn, stated that Cunha would be a “great fit” for Villa as they look to replace the outgoing Jhon Durán, who has now left for Saudi Arabia.

“Cunha is a very decent player,” Brown told Football Insider. “Usually, teams who are down the bottom of the table are likely to lose players because the player is keen to get out and move up the league.

“I think Cunha could play in a lot of Premier League sides, so it doesn’t surprise me that there’s interest in him from Aston Villa. We’ve been talking about Duran’s future as well, so if he does leave, Villa are going to need to find a replacement for him. It could be a busy end to the window for them.

“That would make a lot of sense, since they’ve been looking at Cunha as a key target, to bring him in as a replacement for Duran because they still want that depth with Watkins there too. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him make that move before the window closes.”
