Aston Villa’s Kosta Nedeljkovic set to join RB Leipzig | OneFootball

RB Leipzig are about to complete the loan signing of Aston Villa defender Kosta Nedeljkovic with a medical planned for later today, according to Sky Germany.

The 19-year-old Serbian right-back will join the Saxony club on loan for the remainder of the season after failing to establish himself at the Premier League club following his move from Red Star, having played just 121 minutes of Premier League football across five games this season.

Several clubs showed an interest in signing Nedeljkovic but Leipzig won the race, signing the Serbia international as cover for the injured Benjamin Henrichs. According to Sky Germany, the player is already in Leipzig after Unai Emery publicly advised Nedeljkovic to leave the club on loan.

Speaking at the start of the year, Emery said in a press conference: “I think he will need to get minutes, get confidence and feel comfortable playing and here it is difficult for him to get it.

“One option is to let him go out on loan. In case he is going on loan, as we planned it in the last weeks, we are as well trying to find something for the right side.”
