Atlético de Madrid fell to 10 points behind LaLiga leaders Barcelona with a shock late 1-0 loss Las Palmas at the Gran Canaria Stadium.
Scorers: Muñoz 90+3'
In a game of very few chances, Julián Alvarez missed a golden opportunity to give his side the lead shortly before the break.
The Argentine forward, who has enjoyed a great debut campaign under Diego Simeone, somehow missed from less than six yards out with the goal at his mercy.
His strike partner, Alexander Sørloth, came closest in the second half but saw his header well saved by Las Palmas keeper Dinko Horkaš.
The islanders then stunned Simeone's men with a winner in the third minute of injury time. A long ball was not dealt with, with it eventually falling to Javier Muñoz, who struck past Jan Oblak to send the home fans wild.
The islanders' huge win moves them two points ahead of 17th-placed Alavés, who play Sevilla on Sunday, and there is now real hope of survival.
As for Atleti, any slim hopes of catching Barça are extinguished, with a 10 point gap now formed with just six games remaining.
