Tomasso Baldanzi has left Carlo Nunziata’s Italy U21 squad and is set to return to Roma in the coming hours after picking up a slight muscular strain while out on international duty over the last week, according to the latest updates.
The 21-year-old playmaker was an unused substitute as the Azzurrini slipped to a 2-2 draw against France earlier in the week, despite having led by two goals at the interval.
According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, Baldanzi has a minor muscular strain in his leg, but his withdrawal from the Italy U21 squad is purely on precautionary grounds, and he could still even be available to feature against Napoli in Serie A immediately after the international break.
Roma have a tough run of fixtures awaiting them, as they will visit Tottenham in the Europa League after the Napoli clash, before another tough test in Serie A with the visit from Atalanta, who sit just one point off the top of the table as things stand.
When he returns to Trigoria, Baldanzi will be met by the new Giallorossi coach Claudio Ranieri, who was officially appointed on Thursday.
