The winter transfer window, which closes on February 3rd, is entering its final stages, and activity is likely to pick up pace over the next days, possibly even at FC Barcelona.
Versatile defender Eric Garcia has emerged as a strong candidate to leave the club this month given his lack of playing time under Hansi Flick and Barça’s need to free up salary space to bring in Marcus Rashford.
Girona have made no secret about their interest in re-signing the 24-year-old who excelled on loan at Montilivi last season.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the economic differences between Barcelona and Girona, as far as a deal for Garcia is concerned, are still significant.

Quique Carcel, Girona’s sporting director, confirmed that the club would make another attempt to sign the Spaniard, who is barely featuring in Hansi Flick’s plans, although a move would depend on the conditions set by Barcelona.
“Our intention is to try to bring him, but we depend on Barça setting us conditions that are realistic for us and that we can do it,” Carcel said last week.
As per the report, the Montilivi-based outfit are putting forth an offer of around €10 million for the Spanish international, but Barça deem that figure insufficient, especially considering that Flick is against the player’s exit mid-season.
Girona remain keen but acknowledge the difficulties in reaching an agreement with Barcelona for the 24-year-old ex-Manchester City starlet.
Further contact is expected between the two clubs in the coming days as they seek to reach a satisfactory agreement. However, Real Sociedad have also entered the fray and wish to sign Garcia, which could hurt Girona’s chances.
