Although their financial conditions have kept them from making most of their desired signings in the last few years, FC Barcelona still remain one of the biggest clubs in the world of football and a dream destination for footballers throughout the globe.
Thus, it is not uncommon for the Blaugranes to receive offers from some top-level players who want to don the blue and garnet jersey at some point in their careers.
According to SPORT, one such player who was offered to the Catalans in the last winter transfer window was the Portuguese forward Joao Felix, who wanted to return to Barcelona only six months after having left the club in the last summer transfer window.
The report claims that Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, talked both to Joan Laporta and Deco about the possibility of incorporating the Portuguese star in the Blaugrana ranks. However, Barcelona declined his offer, as they neither had enough salary space to incorporate him neither believed he had the desired profile.
The Catalans were looking for an offensive reinforcement in January, and they were closely linked with the Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford for this purpose. However, they needed to part ways with some of their current players to be able to land him, but no departures took place.
Although the Blaugranes declined Felix’s offer, Hansi Flick would not have been too averse to having the Portuguese forward in his squad. The German appreciates him as a footballer and had even tried to get him on his team during his time at Bayern Munich.
Similarly, he also gave the green light for his continuity at Barcelona in the last summer transfer window, even though he was not one of the priority targets. This was also the case in January.
Ultimately, Felix joined AC Milan at the end of the winter transfer window and shone in his first appearance for the Italian club. But Chelsea are likely to sell him permanently next summer, and it remains to be seen where he will be playing next season.
