Barcelona forward absent from final training session before Real Sociedad clash | OneFootball

FC Barcelona conducted their final training session this Saturday ahead of their match against Real Sociedad at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, scheduled for Sunday evening.

After playing out an entertaining 4-4 draw in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg against Atletico Madrid, the Blaugrana will be eager to get back to winning ways when they face La Real tomorrow.

No Ansu Fati in training

In what was the final training session before the game against Real Sociedad, Ansu Fati was unable to participate with his teammates due to a fever, reports Mundo Deportivo, making his availability for the game uncertain.

Fati has pretty much fallen out of favour at Barça and has not played a single minute since the Copa del Rey clash against Barbastro in early January.

In fact, the La Masia forward has been regularly left out of the official squad list by manager Hansi Flick, indicating how far the Blaugrana No. 10 has fallen.

While his absence from the squad lists in recent weeks was largely a technical decision by the manager, Ansu appears set to be excluded once again for tomorrow’s game, but because of illness.

Also absent were long-term injured players Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Marc Bernal, who continued their respective recovery processes separately from the group.

Andreas Christensen available

It is worth noting that Andreas Christensen received medical clearance on Wednesday after recovering from a soleus injury in his right leg and appears set to return to the squad should there be no late mishaps.

Meanwhile, Inigo Martinez rejoined training on Friday after missing Wednesday’s session due to the birth of his third child.

Youngster Diego Kochen participated as the third-choice keeper and is likely to be included in the squad for the match against Real Sociedad.
