Barcelona-linked striker can leave in the summer for €65-75 million | OneFootball

Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres has decided to leave the Portuguese club this summer.

In fact, according to reports from SPORT, the player has already discussed certain details with his club to ensure a smooth and well-ordered transfer process.

His departure is expected to come at a fee ranging between €65 million and €75 million, with the final decision on his next club resting entirely in his hands if multiple teams meet the required bid.

Clause in his contract

As part of an earlier agreement between Gyokeres and Sporting, his release clause of €100 million was only applicable during the January transfer window.

At that time, Sporting had no intention of negotiating a lower price, as they were determined to keep hold of him until the end of the campaign.

However, it was also decided that should he remain at the club for the rest of the season, his summer transfer fee would be significantly reduced.

As a result, interested clubs can now secure his services for a minimum of €65 million and a maximum of €75 million, making him an attractive prospect for several elite teams across Europe.

Gyokeres has the power

Crucially, Gyokeres has the authority to choose his next club as long as the offer meets the minimum requirement.

Unlike many high-profile transfers, where the selling club often pushes for the most financially beneficial deal, this agreement ensures the forward has full control over his future.

His priority appears to be a return to the Premier League, although he is also open to offers from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcelona had previously shown interest in Gyokeres, particularly due to uncertainty surrounding Robert Lewandowski’s long-term future at the club.

Sporting director Deco has maintained a strong relationship with Sporting Lisbon and had inquired about Gyokeres’ availability earlier in the season.

At the time, Barcelona were exploring potential options for a new striker in case Lewandowski’s time at the club came to an end.

Deco was made aware of the agreement between Sporting and the player, keeping track of the financial details involved in a potential transfer.

Another factor that could influence negotiations is Barcelona’s relationship with Sporting Lisbon in past dealings. The Catalan club still holds a buyback option on Francisco Trincao.

If necessary, Barcelona could consider waiving this buyback option or even negotiating a share of a future sale to potentially lower the cost of acquiring Gyokeres.

Despite these factors, signing Gyokeres is not currently a top priority for Barcelona.

The Swedish striker is more inclined to pursue a move to the Premier League, where he could command a higher salary and potentially take on a leading role at a major club.

While Barcelona may still keep an eye on the situation, they are unlikely to make a serious push for the forward unless circumstances change.
