Barcelona loanee Clement Lenglet is set to make a firm decision about his future in the next three weeks as Atletico Madrid push to sign him on a permanent deal.

According to recent reports from Mundo Deportivo, the French centre-back will carefully evaluate his options before determining his next move.

It must be noted that Lenglet has experienced a mixed campaign so far. Initially, he struggled to settle, facing inconsistency and injury setbacks.

However, from mid-November onwards, he managed to secure a regular place in Diego Simeone’s starting lineup. Since then, he has started ten La Liga matches and five Champions League fixtures, proving to be an essential figure for the team.

Still undecided

Despite growing into an important role at Atletico, Lenglet has not yet decided where he will play next season. His contract with Barcelona runs until 2026, but he is not in the club’s future plans.

With no clear path back into the squad under the orders of Hansi Flick, he will sit down with his representatives in the coming weeks to weigh up his options.

Lenglet has always been methodical when it comes to career decisions, and this time will be no different. By late March, he is expected to have a clearer picture of the offers available to him.

Atletico want him

Atletico Madrid are willing to pay around €5 million plus performance-related variables for a permanent transfer. However, Barcelona value him closer to €10 million.

Given the circumstances, both clubs are expected to negotiate and could agree on a deal in the region of €7-8 million, a fee that would be acceptable for the Catalan side.

As the season progresses, Lenglet’s future will become clearer, with Atletico remaining the most likely destination.

However, until a final decision is made, the French defender remains focused on finishing the campaign in the best possible way.
