Barcelona midfielder calm about registration problems despite court ruling | OneFootball

With the court hearing going against them Barcelona find themselves in a crisis over the registration and availability of Dani Olmo.

The Spanish midfielder has enjoyed a strong start to life in Catalonia after his return home but was only registered for the first half of the season.

Despite filing a lawsuit against La Liga and requesting his registration as a precautionary measure, however, Barcelona have ended up on the losing side of the battle.

In fact, it has now come to light that Olmo will be unable to participate in Barcelona’s games in January not only in La Liga but also in the Spanish Super Cup, the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League.

Olmo remains calm

As relayed by ElDesmarque in a recent update, the Barcelona star and his entourage are calm despite the recent news and are confident that the club will find a solution.

The Catalans still have time before their first game of January and the offices are burning the midnight oil to find a solution. The aim, needless to say, is to have Olmo available at least in time for the Spanish Super Cup.

The Spanish outlet also brings to light the various plans Joan Laporta and Co. have in place to ensure Olmo’s registration is completed in time.

For starters, they are filing a new lawsuit against La Liga and will meet the league in court on Monday.

As part of the new case, the request for Olmo’s registration as a precautionary measure to be given the green light as they feel they have been wronged by La Liga with the wage-bill calculations.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s season-ending injury implied that Barcelona could use 80% of his salary space to rope in a new player and they brought in Wojciech Szczesny for a low fee. They are demanding that Olmo be registered in the surplus space but La Liga refuse.

If that ploy does not come to fruition, they continue to scout the possibility of selling the VIP box rights in the new Spotify Camp Nou to bring in enough revenue.

There is also a chance that a board member may put up some of his personal assets to ensure Olmo’s registration.

With so many solutions in mind, the club and the player remain calm and it remains to be seen which of the board’s ploys works out.
