The winter transfer window is officially done and duster, putting an end to a month-long drama that saw Barcelona lose out on multiple young talents.

But while many talented players left, Barça had a difficult time getting rid of unwanted first-team stars – a list that includes none other than Ansu Fati.

The forward even had the chance to leave Barcelona on deadline day, but the attacker chose to remain at the club in order to fight for his place under Hansi Flick.

Al Shabab’s late offer for Fati

According to Diario SPORT, on the deadline day of the transfer window, Al-Shabab from Saudi Arabia made a significant move, presenting a €15 million offer to Barcelona for Fati’s services.

However, the player himself rejected the move, preferring to stay and earn his minutes at Camp Nou.

This decision comes at a time when Barcelona are exploring various options for its squad. The club is not in dire need of selling players, but a transfer would be more favorable than a loan, especially since loans do not contribute to the club’s immediate financial books.

Fati’s choice to stay is also influenced by the club’s stance; Hansi Flick is not keen on reducing his squad size unless an exceptionally attractive offer comes along.

With the transfer window now shut, all eyes will be on how Fati can leverage this opportunity to prove his worth in a competitive Barcelona lineup.

Flick, for his part, though, has made it clear that he does not consider the young attacker a part of his plans.

One would, therefore, expect Barcelona to try and secure the sale of Fati once again once the summer transfer window kicks in.
