Barcelona president Joan Laporta has early this week provided a major update on the club’s plans to return to the Spotify Camp Nou.
Barcelona’s beloved home ground has of course been undergoing renovations for some time now.
Amid efforts to bring the Camp Nou in line with some of football’s most modern stadiums, the Blaugrana brass green-lighted a major makeover, which will see everything from stands to facilities and fan experience upgraded.
The return of Hansi Flick’s squad to the ground has since been pushed back on a whole host of occasions, giving rise to frustration on the part of the club’s supporters.
Such fans, in turn, will no doubt be thrilled to hear of the latest update surrounding the plans of the Blaugrana’s board.
Speaking during an interview with TV3, as cited by Diario Sport, on Monday, Joan Laporta was asked for the latest on the progress in the Camp Nou construction process.
And the Spanish patron went on to confirm:
“If there are no imponderables, this coming season we will go to the Spotify Camp Nou. We would start with a pilot test with the Joan Gamper Trophy in August. We work with this hypothesis.”
