Barcelona star agrees new contract with €1 billion release clause | OneFootball

Another leading member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has reached a verbal agreement to extend his contract terms with the club.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Gavi as the player in question.

The subject of contract extensions has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last week.

This comes after two members of Hansi Flick’s squad were tied down to fresh terms.

First up came Ronald Araújo, before fellow defender Gerard Martín quickly followed suit last Friday.

And, as alluded to above, early this week, confirmation of another impending extension for one of Barca’s leading stars has come to the fore, too.

As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:

‘After Araújo and Pedri, Barça have also agreed in principle on a new deal for Gavi. Final details to be sorted as for Pedri but verbal agreement ready with Deco who’s taking care of negotiations.’

Gavi’s new deal is expected to run all the way through the summer of 2031, featuring a hefty €1 billion release clause.
