Barcelona to issue a key update on Spotify Camp Nou renovation tomorrow | OneFootball

Barcelona are running against time to have the newly revamped Spotify Camp Nou open up sometime later in the season.

The club’s initial plan was to return to Camp Nou in early 2025. However, there have been several roadblocks in the construction works, leading to an unprecedented delay.

Barcelona now aim to have Camp Nou match-ready at least by May. And to that end, tomorrow could prove to be a crucial day.

Barcelona to issue Camp Nou update

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are expected to issue an update on the Camp Nou project tomorrow evening through their official channels.

The statement will be led by the club’s institutional vice president Elena Fort, who will offer details and updates on the renovation works at Camp Nou and whether or not they are on time.

Fort will also explain to the Barcelona shareholders the reasons that caused a delay in the construction works, including the lack of materials available and the shortage of qualified labour, among others.

Currently, the project involves 3000 workers. But in order to expedite the process, Barcelona are awaiting approval from the city council to issue a six-day-a-week, 24 hours a day work other.

The club, of course, have promised to adhere to all the labour regulations and minimise inconvenience to locals or neighbours.

As far as the Camp Nou works are concerned, building the roof is the biggest challenge for now and Barcelona are looking to get it done by the start of next season.

However, the lack of roof won’t impede the stadium’s match-readiness. In fact, the Blaugrana have already begun the grass planting process, which is expected to take around 10 weeks.

Once the stadium is somewhat match-ready, Barcelona are expected to shift immediately, with an initial capacity of 60,000 spectators.
