Contract renewals have been the primary objective for Barcelona in this ongoing winter transfer window. While new signings can never be ruled out, the Catalan club has been showcasing their commitment to their current players. So far this month, a handful of Barcelona players have already renewed.
First came the contract renewals of both Gerard Martin and Ronald Araujo. In the case of the latter, there was a lot of speculation and talk surrounding a potential departure to Italy. However, Barcelona managed to act fast and renewed his contract until 2031.
Not too long after, they managed to renew the contract of Spanish midfielder Pedri as well. Officially announced just recently, the Spaniard is now set to stay at the club until 2030 and his renewal was seen as a major objective for Barcelona considering his importance to the team.
Now, as per SPORT, the new two contracts that the club will cater to are the ones concerning Gavi and Inigo Martinez. The club has decided to renew the contracts of both players in order to avoid any possible issues in the near future regarding the expiration dates of their current deals.
For Gavi, Barcelona plans to have him sign his renewal by tomorrow and extend his stay until 2030, just like Pedri. Moreover, both Spanish midfielders will have the same €1 billion release clause, but the club will not make that information public due to a recent change of policy.
As for Inigo Martinez, the club has seen him adapt to the team quite well and he has been one of Hansi Flick’s most reliable soldiers this season. Consequently, he has earned himself a contract renewal that will see the Spanish veteran extend his stay for at least one more season at the club.
The official announcement in the defender’s case, however, could take longer than Gavi’s. While nothing is a guarantee as of right now, the young midfielder’s official announcement is more concrete as per the report, whereas Inigo Martinez’s could take longer than the other one to come around.
