A leading figure on the January transfer shortlist at Barcelona has again been left out of his current club’s matchday squad.

The player in question? Marcus Rashford.

Frontman Rashford has of course long seen his name take its place front and centre in the Spanish media headlines.

This comes amid the widespread understanding that the Englishman has been identified as Barcelona’s first-choice winter reinforcement.

Rashford, for his part, is understood to be keen on linking up with Hansi Flick’s squad, too.

Deco and the transfer team at the Camp Nou will in turn no doubt be boosted by the latest news stemming from Manchester on Sunday evening.

Man United are primed to return to action in short order, when they take to the pitch at Craven Cottage in a Premier League meeting with Fulham.

And Rashford, as has become a common occurrence of late, has again been completely omitted from the Red Devils’ squad by boss Ruben Amorim.
