Barcelona kept their undefeated run alive after a narrow 1-0 win at Leganés to close the book on all the Saturday action across La Liga.
Scorers: Sáenz (OG) 49'
Hansi Flick's league leaders were hardly at the races tonight in the wake of their 4-0 demolition of Borussia Dortmund in midweek, creating little danger in the opening 45 minutes of action at Estadio Municipal de Butarque.
It would not take Blaugrana long to finally break the deadlock after the interval, though, with Jorge Sáenz gifting the visitors an opener courtesy of an owl goal after his attempted block on Raphinha's dangerous ball aimed at Robert Lewandowski at the near post.
The home side would see a pair of handball appeals turned away by match official Francisco José Hernández, but replays would show any penalty confirmation would have been harsh.
Apart from a handful of brief moments from Los pepineros after the break, Borja Jiménez's side struggled to truly threaten apart from a huge chance in the 76th minute.
Leganés broke forward on the counter through a direct run from Juan Cruz, whose cross aimed at Diego Garcia could only be poked wide when he should have scored.
In the end, it would be Barcelona who walked away with the full bag of points on offer, once again piling pressure on bitter rival Real Madrid ahead of Los Blancos' trip to Deportivo Alavés tomorrow.
Up next for Barça is their midweek return leg against Borussia Dortmund as passage into the semi-finals of the Champions League is all but guaranteed.
