Bayern Munich attempted to hijack a new Chelsea signing in the final hours, but the player ended up choosing to join Chelsea still.
It says a lot for Chelsea if a player decides to join them over Bayern Munich right now, and this should be seen as a big win for the club.
The Blues are going into another Sunday evening game today playing Arsenal in the London derby in the Premier League, and they will be hoping to push on with their impressive start to the season.
But Chelsea fans have also been keeping a close eye on Estevao Willian this season as well, because he will be joining the club in the summer of 2025 and is having another fantastic season playing in Brazil before completing his move.
Bayern tried to hijack this move, according to Fabrizio Romano
Estevao has been on fire
In his latest YouTube video, Romano says:
‘Chelsea were able to anticipate several clubs for Willian Estêvão. The timing was perfect in the summer. The club that really tried to hijack the move, they tried to do something in 24 hours, but Estêvão wanted to go to Chelsea was Bayern Munich.
‘Bayern before going for Michael Olise considered going for Estêvão for 2025 but never reached advanced stages, because the player wanted to go to Chelsea. Chelsea were going to invest €34m, plus bonuses. Bayern were prepared to pay something around €40m. But they understood that the player was already in very advanced conversations with Chelsea.’
It’s a great capture for Chelsea and we are seeing the excitement build up for the next biggest player to come out of Brazil and a player with such a high ceiling.
It will be interesting to see how Chelsea use him and bring him into the first team in the summer.
