WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from the Blues this evening.
The 21-year-old was already contracted to Birmingham City until summer 2026, however, she has now agreed to extend her deal by a further year.
Herron is a product of the well-respected Sunderland academy system. The defender went on to feature for The Lady Black Cats at senior level, making 39 appearances for the club across two Barclays Women’s Championship campaigns. With Herron tipped for big things, Birmingham City swooped to secure the player’s services in summer 2023. Herron has been an ever-present for the Blues in league competition since joining the club. The youngster’s reliable performances saw her pick up the Birmingham City Young Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards for 2023/2024.
With Birmingham City pushing for that long-awaited promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Super League, it is important that the club have the futures of their most important players secured. The Blues have therefore shown no hesitation in extending Herron’s contract.
Birmingham City return to action following the winter break when they travel to Westleigh Park to face Portsmouth in the Barclays Women’s Championship on Sunday afternoon.
