Sky Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund have the ability to part ways with current head coach Niko Kovac if they fail to qualify for Europe.
Although Kovac only joined Dortmund earlier in the year, there is still a possibility that the two parties part ways in the summer if goals are not met.
However, there is not clause that can be activated to allow Kovac to leave, but instead there is a special severance package that can be used. If Dortmund fails to qualify for Europe, they can pay a total of €3m to part ways with the head coach in the summer. This would be 50% of what Kovac currently earns at the club.
Dortmund are currently 10th in the Bundesliga and must qualify at least for the Europa League. Kovac is already becoming more ruthless as head coach when it comes to choosing his team and is said to have held a heated meeting with the team on Sunday following their 1-0 loss to Augsburg.
