As Borussia Mönchengladbach’s disappointing run-of-form to the current Bundesliga campaign continues, Sport Bild claims that Czech striker Tomas Cvancara was recently blacklisted by the team leadership council prior to matchday 31 away loss at Holstein Kiel.

Cvancara’s dissatisfaction with his current sporting situation is well known. The 24-year-old – signed ahead of the 2023/24 campaign as the supposed direct replacement for the departed Marcus Thuram – never quite found his footing in the Niederrhein. He’s mostly featured as a substitute over the last two seasons.

Tim Kleindienst’s arrival this offseason left Cvancara unable to play at his preferred position. The natural centre forward has generally worked on the right wing in five starts and 19 relief appearances this year. Despite the fact that the 24-year-old scored his second goal of the season in the Kiel loss, the BMG locker room doesn’t want him in the matchday squad.

Sport Bild reports that Kleindienst himself was part of the inner revolt against Cvancara, also noting that the German national team striker did not wish to comment on the matter. Kleindienst’s affection for his regular right wing partner, Franck Honorat, is also well known. A recent injury to Honorat led to Cvancara getting more minutes.

Honorat is now back fit and started in this past weekend’s 4-4 draw against Hoffenheim. Seoane apparently ignored the request of the locker room and did use Cvancara off the bench for the final 20 minutes of the match. Now that the team’s feelings about Cvancara have been made public, however, it remains to be seen what happens next.
