Nikita Parris scored in second half stoppage time as Brighton & Hove Albion defeated Everton 3-2 at Walton Hall Park this afternoon.

The hosts took the lead on two occasions but they were pegged back by a spirited Brighton & Hove Albion side before Parris struck a dramatic late winner for The Seagulls at the death.

Everton got off the mark after nine minutes. Katja Snoeijs crossed the ball to Sara Holmgaard, who fired it over the head of Melina Loeck and into the net.

Honoka Hayashi then moved quickly down the right, crossing perfectly for Snoejis, but her effort was well-blocked by Loeck.

Michelle Agyemang levelled the scoring for Brighton & Hove Albion in the 21st minute. She managed to see-off the Everton defence and fired home from close range.

Just two minutes later, The Toffees were back in-front through Snoejis. Toni Payne crossed the ball from the right and it was then swept into the net by the Dutch forward.

On the stroke of half-time, the visitors equalised for a second time through WSL veteran Fran Kirby. She slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

The second half almost started perfectly for Everton. Clare Wheeler set up the ball for Payne, who was alone in the area, but she was unable to capitalise.

At the other end, Agyemang was keen to get a second goal, but her close-range shot was well-blocked.

Sara Holmgaard then came close to scoring again after latching on to Justine Vanhaevermaet’s header before Parris struck the winner for Brighton & Hove Albion deep in second half stoppage time, firing the ball into the bottom left corner following a terrific pass by Rachel McLauchlan.

Both sides are back in action next weekend. Everton travel to Anfield to face Liverpool while Brighton & Hove Albion play host to Arsenal.
