Bruno Fernandes hints at concerns over Ruben Amorim's Man Utd tactics | OneFootball

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has admitted there are moments when it feels like Ruben Amorim's tactics are "not working" for the team.

A hard-fought 3-2 triumph over Ipswich Town on Wednesday was just the 11th win of Amorim's reign but it did little to boost confidence around United, who sit 14th in the Premier League standings after 27 matches.

Patrick Dorgu's first-half red card didn't help United's plans to play front-foot football, but this was far from the first time the Red Devils have looked more comfortable when they abandon Amorim's methods.

While Fernandes was keen to defend Amorim's plans to play attractive, attacking football, he acknowledged there is still a lot of work to do to make the new boss' tactics successful.

"We know we have to stick to what we're training, what we're supposed to do,” he told TNT Sports. "It could be that you could feel in moments it's not working, but for some reason the manager wants us to do that and if he wants us to do that...

"They watch so many games, they prepare themselves, we have a big staff, not only the ones that came with him but the ones who were already here, we have great people behind the team to work on that so if they do that in the right way, we just have to come on the pitch and show it."

Importantly, Fernandes' use of "for some reason" was not interpreted as confusion towards Amorim's persistence, but rather confirmation that there is indeed a reason behind Amorim's logic.

Next up for United is the FA Cup fifth round clash with Fulham on Sunday and a Europa League trip to Real Sociedad, before the Red Devils return to Premier League action against Arsenal next weekend.
